Again, not found in Scripture, the Presentation of the Theotokos in the Temple is an undoubted historical event. This is borne out by the fact that the Virgin, being a Daughter of Jewish Law, would have been presented to God in the Temple.
The Virgin, accompanied by her parents Joachim and Ann, is presented to the high priest Zacharias as a small girl. Despite her youth, the Virgin still embraces the mysterious depths of God’s purpose and willingly enters the sanctuary without looking back at her parents with fear or hesitation.
Again, employing the use of traveling narrative, the Virgin, is now ensconced in the symbolic depths of the Temple. She is not in solitude but in a mystically intimate conversation with God and attended by an angel.
